Cut yourself a slice of soda can the length of the outside circumference and the hight of the bush and and pack it in behind the bush .....if that dont work put 2 i
I already installed the motor but not the drive.
Is there any issue if I leave it like this?
Again the plastic bushing sleeves when in pretty tight to the wall of the swivel bracket. The king pin itself has a little play in those 2 bushing bearing sleeves. So how can I fit anything on the back of those when the play is b3tween the king pin and the plastic bearing sleeve?
I didn't know you have to Jerry rig it.
I really don't want to remove it again if it's not
mandatory. Why the heck is there the play. The king pin is authentic and m e assures exactly like the original.
The sleeves are new so I don't know if the ID is larger 5han the older ones. I measured and maybe 0.05 maybe.
I inserted the older king pin and it also has play.
I have not packed the swivel bracket with grease yet. That might tighten it up maybe.
Again is there a problem to leave it is?

So I measured the ID for the new bearings is around 28.80..
The old bearing is 28. 28mm.
So 0.6mm bigger on the new ones. The old and new king pins are the same diameter and outside diameter of the old and new bearings also measures the same.

Not an easy job.
To make it easier, the head and lower unit needs to come off.
If it's ever been in salt water?? 10X harder.
Need a factory manual too.
An acetylene torch helps.
Take pics and post the procedures when done.
Hey Jerry any thoughts on the new king pin and new bearing sleeve bushings having some play after install? Have not packed them with grease yet.
The new king pin is the exact same measurement as the old one. The plastic bushings seem a bit larger in the id by 0.5 or so. Is this normal? Will it be batter when packed. The sleeve bearings were bought new from Marine Engine.
Let me k n ow please I am sure you've changed some. Thanks in advance.

Having that clearance isnt ideal but its probly no worse than any motor with a bit of wear.......but it would bug me 🙂. My bushes have a cut down the side of them so packing them did work for me . Greasing them wont take up clearance but it will make them feel better for a while .
Probly your best bet is to get the correct bushes if it bugs you to much 🙂

I bought another one from Ebay it's a Quicksilver
I will see if it's any different.
Like I sa8d the ones I installed are from Marine Engine. I didn't see a brand but was hoping they sell the right ones
I did install the engine but it would be easy to remove at this point it's only the sealant part.
The old ones have been heated so they don't even go on the pin anymore.
Any idea where I can find original ones?
I see some used on Ebay. They might be ok

5mm?! That's a lot. Mine are 0.5mm larger. But since I heated up the bracket to get the old pin out I am thinking that caused some shrinkage.
