Hi, I am new to iboats.com and this is the first post I have ever posted on the net so let me say that I am sorry if I make any mistakes.
I have some experience with boat repair, but by no means am I an expert. When I was 19 I worked on a 1972 winner the deck was replaced but I made a lot of mistakes. Screwed deck to stringers, tabbed deck to hull with woven with no csm between layers etc. Now I am 42 have learner better techniques, but we never stop learning. Currently I am working on a 1989 22 searay. Totally gutted the boat to the hull, did leave foam in, it seams that it is in good shape. I installed 1/2 inch marine ply (AB quality). Coated with epoxy resin sanded then coated with one layer 1708 then sanded. installed to hull, bedded with epoxy mixed with collided silica and 3/16 milled fibers. I hope all was done correctly so far. I am at the point of installing the deck. I coated the deck same as the stringers but used 7 oz glass on bottom less weight. My concern is how to attach the deck to the hull by the gunnels. Do I need to mix epoxy with collided silica and milled fibers and apply around the perimeter to the underside to the hull then glass the top of the deck? Or do I need to just glass to the gunnels and be done. Some expert input would be appreciated. I have a lot of pics that I could upload if needed.
