1989 Bayliner Capri 5.0

Hi guys,
I’m super new to boats I recently purchased a bayliner. Sat for 3 years replaced the battery drained gas, and got it running. Took it up to the lake and I forgot to turn off the radio on the way up there and the battery was dead at the boat launch. Put the battery on the charger. Long story short my drunk friend helping me hooked the battery up wrong and it made a pop. After this I had no gauges no power or nothing but still have the power to move my motor up and down. I can get it to crank from the solenoid. Replaced it and still the same. I’ve checked fuses from what I can find underneath the steering wheel nothing blown. Any ideas on what I should do next kinda struggling to find anything on YouTube

While maybe a blown fuse, need year, boat and engine make/model for folks to help. Also “hooked up the battery wrong” means what exactly? I.e. did you take the battery out of the boat to charge and upon reinstalling hooked pos to neg and neg to pos or just what? Provide as much info as possible.

it’s a 1989 bayliner capri with a cobra 2.3. And yes positive was hooked to negative and negative to positive

look for a circuit breaker back at the motor. the power trim is wired hot, so that has its own circuit protection.

also, if the motor has been sitting for a few years, do all the maintenance like alignment, bellows, raw water pump, servicing the points, fluid changes, etc. before you use it.
