For your consoles, look at Archbuilder's thread on Project Fuggly. He's done a lot of custom fiberglass work that has turned out amazing. You could do the same to make custom consoles to fit your boat.

As for the gauges, do a search on iboats or some googling to turn up something that may strike your fancy. There are plenty of gauge sets our there. Another option, depending on what exactly is wrong with the gauge is to send it in for repairs. There may/should be markings on the back as to the manufacturer of the gauge. I know my Four Winns gauges were made by Faria and for a nominal fee they would take them in and recondition. I didn't get around to it as, well...that boat isn't my problem any longer.

My thinking is to build up the height, put storage in a few of the compartments, livewell, and then fill the rest with foam. Are there alot of people who dont use foam? I only ask because this boat only gets used on small lakes/ponds and never at a time with inclement weather.

Do i need to get my designs approved by an engineer, or coast guard or something.

Thank God Its The Weekend!!!!!!!!!!! Time to get some real work done!!!!

Update: Outboard is coming off today, we are going to take the boat up to my "Admiral's" fathers house, being that he has the means to store the 36 gallons of bad fuel and help me lift the tank out of the boat. The boat is starting to be less and less. Looks kind of like a shell with about 300,000,000 pieces of foam in it. Already took two trips to the dump...... im sure i have atleast 1 more infront of me.

I marked where the deck use to be, but i think that will be useless, because i want to change the design to allow for a platform deck in the bow and stern.

The transom looks to have a small void on the exterior near its base....but also looks like it has been capped before and repaired... wont really know till i can get it off, but its just interesting..... If the PO did repair it, i assume they used seacast or something. it sounds like tapping a block of concrete .... but like i said. we wont know till i remove the outboard today...

So i know its a little risky, but the plan is for me to Pick it up and the Admiral to push the homemade O/B stand underneath it .... should be interesting ......

certainly didnt get the OB off... admiral yelled at me and told me she didnt want to get crushed.... so i did as any smart man would and did as i was told.

anyways, boat is coming along, except its takeing alot longer than expected but, i haven't really had much time to work on it. like anyone,, things come up. (easter/family/firends....etc)

i plan on really getting after it this weekend.... i plan getting it moved inside so i dont have to worry about rain anymore;...



Question, i am doing all this demo without the cap removed.... is that ok? am i really messing something up? i justdont have the means or space to store both things separate

For your outboard, if you haven't already you would want to build one of these:

Next, I would build a gantry where I could string a chainfall to pull the outboard up safely and then lower it back down onto the stand you built above once the boat is out of the way. Keeps the admiral happy which is always a good thing!



As for those bolts, it looks to be under your cap near the transom correct? Not sure what those are as I'm not that familiar with your boat - others may chime in and have a better answer.

As for removing the cap - generally it's much easier to replace the transom, tab it in, and complete other repairs with it out of the way. If the cap were removed you would need to make sure your boat is properly supported so that the hull doesn't deform during your rebuild. Cradles on the existing trailer have worked for those in a similar situation. Leaving it on - not messing anything up other than it'll be dusty as heck with your grinding and make the transom replacement a little more interesting.
