Thank you to everyone who has replied. It does mean a lot.

Here is where I am at in this thread.

History
Friend owned the boat and always paid mechanics to work on it. He never took care of the appearance of the boat. we even got into a drunken wrestling match and smashed the front windshield . That was before I owned the boat. We took my son who was like 8months old .... sea fishing and ended up catching some stingrays. So I can say I have memories with his boat and so he sold it to me for $1000 about 1.5 years ago. He had paid a mechanic to install gimbal, bellows , impeller , control shifter cable and control throttle cable. About 2 months after the repair . The propeller stopped spinning and no gears would engage. He let the boat sit for about 2 months before selling to me. He had not told me about these repairs until today.

The problem

The propeller does not spin and I could not engage forward or reverse gear.

Diagnosis

The controller lever ( that has the trim controls)
Had an extremely difficult time being pushed into forward gear and it could not even be pushed into reverse.
While you push the controller lever into forward the rmps would increase but it would not go into forward gear. I checked this while the engine was off and I tried to spin the propeller while it was in forward. The propeller would freely spin telling me I was not engage into a gear , I was still in neutral .I got some great advice here about pulling on the lower shift cable to test if it had any restrictions. The cable should be easy to push and pull on when it is disconnected from he engine side.

So I disconnected the lower shift cable from the engine. I could barely pull but I could push. And this being my first time I really had no idea how easy the cable should move. So I left it disconnected and I went to the control lever and shifted into forward. It moved like butter and for the first time ever for me it shifted into reverse. This told me that cable was ****.

Once my new cable came in. I tested by pulling and pushing and I was amazed how freely they are supposed to move. Mine was completely seized compared to the new one.

The Repair

I removed the propeller
I drained the unit
I disconnected the trim
I removed the unit

I'm currently cleaning the areas and waiting for my oem manual.

I ordered new parts and I'll make a list of exactly what I ordered and how much I spent on this whole project for other to have an idea. I do worry about buying **** parts so you won't be seeing my part bills being cheap. If u like to live life on the risky side feel free to buy that ebay kit 😂

Again thank to all and I will ask more questions here as I dig deeper into this stern. It's my first but definitely won't be my last

Update.

The repair

I cut the old lower shift cable out and use a 3/4 socket to remove it the rest of the way.

On the side the goes into the engine I tap my new one so I can snake it in easy.

I pull and after 3 or 4 min I finally have the new lower shift cable routed in.

I use my Dremel with a wire brush attachment and get most of the crap off. I used thinner to get nasty grease out.and I cleaned the threads.

I now need to screw in the new lower shift cable . Making sure to use triple marine grease.

My oem manual came today and it shows how to adjust the cable . That's gonna be fun I bet 😂

It's been about 102 all day and I'm gonna take a break but I hope to have this all done today.

Questions for you guys

I have I think green or blue fluid when I drained my stern.

Can I just use normal car 80-90?
