1989 40 evilrude how to back flush??

lower is off, impeller is intact and working. how do I back flush cooling sys? I think it is clogged with sand.

remove tstats. we have to do it here all the time.

it's salt water, I flushed it through t stat housing, water pump seat and tell tail.
I got water in top cylinder. trying to remove head now, it does not want to come off.
