1989 2.3l TKO. What does "TKO" mean?

I can't seem to find any reference to it in my service manual and amazingly google has not lead me to any explanations of this mysterious abbreviation. Anyone able to enlighten me?

The only term that comes to mind is "total knock out". Not sure if that is correct though.
