1988 yamaha 225 excel

i have changed the stator and the computer and had the carbs gone though and set and it will not turn any rpms sometimes it will only run 1900 rpms then sometimes it will run 3500 rpms we also have done a leak down test on it all is good anyone ever had this trouble or can anyone help me please thanks

pick up the Yamaha service manual for your motor and the proper test equipment.
Test things to see what is in spec and what is not.
Just throwing parts at it gets expensive and is frustrating if you are not lucky enough to get it right the 1st time.

Compression, spark, timing, and fuel pressure/vacuum are all easy to test.
Peak voltage into and out of CDI specs are a minimum if there is a spark issue
Test you alarm system to make sure it is functioning properly, as you may have a problem and the buzzer is not working.
Limp mode limites RPM to about 2000 and I believe even those older Yamaha's retarded the timing to limit RPM , so easy to check when problem is there
