1988 Mariner 50hp 2-stroke - Issues after carburetor rebuild

I recently acquired a 16' boat with a 1988 Mariner 50hp 2-stroke 3 cylinder motor. It was working for a while, but running rough. It would often shut down when idle or near-idle, but still was usable.

In order to do a quick clean, I got some seafoam and created a mixture of gas, oil and seafoam. A few minutes into Dunks Decarb method, the engine shutdown. When priming for restart, the top carburetor (2 total carbs) began leaking fuel when I was priming the bulb. Something was clearly stuck in the carb and because the engine was running rough, I decided to rebuild both carbs.

After the rebuild of the carbs it starts up but doesn't stay running even at high throttle (shakes, sputters, shuts down). I also noticed a small fuel leak now that only happens after shutdown. I was thinking that air may be getting through a loose fuel line and that the same fuel line is the one leaking. Is that a decent assumption and further next steps?

Welcome to iboats

What are the Compression Numbers?
Gas leaking/dripping from Carb(s) when using the Primer Bulb, indicates a Inlet(Float) not seating or the Float is set too high.
Has it got Spark to all Cylinders? Can the Spark jump a 3/8" gap?
Are the Carbs Synced with each other, and are they properly Synced to the Spark Advance?

Thanks jimmbo.

I will be testing the compression and spark this weekend (time permitting).
The gas leak is no longer happening when using the primer bulb (was happening before I rebuilt the carbs). Now the gas leak only happens upon shutting down the motor. I assume this could be a loose/bad gas line?

The carb syncing will be a little bit more involving task for me, but I have a SELOC manual for the engine that has that info.

SELOC manual.

I appreciate the advice so far. Is your point that I should have the factory manual? If so, I am unable to find one for this 50hp 2 stroke Mariner (model: 705031ND). Any advice on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

3rd party Manuals tend to have a lot to be desired, Typos, wrong info, usually inadequate Photos/Drawings, are my experiences with them.
I used to find many Manuals on ebay
Have you tried Ken Cook?
A lot of Mercury Dealers will order the correct manual
