I recently acquired a 16' boat with a 1988 Mariner 50hp 2-stroke 3 cylinder motor. It was working for a while, but running rough. It would often shut down when idle or near-idle, but still was usable.
In order to do a quick clean, I got some seafoam and created a mixture of gas, oil and seafoam. A few minutes into Dunks Decarb method, the engine shutdown. When priming for restart, the top carburetor (2 total carbs) began leaking fuel when I was priming the bulb. Something was clearly stuck in the carb and because the engine was running rough, I decided to rebuild both carbs.
After the rebuild of the carbs it starts up but doesn't stay running even at high throttle (shakes, sputters, shuts down). I also noticed a small fuel leak now that only happens after shutdown. I was thinking that air may be getting through a loose fuel line and that the same fuel line is the one leaking. Is that a decent assumption and further next steps?
