1988 Johnson 200 won't start or even hit

Hey guy's, I have been trying to test the electronics on this motor and it seems that either I am nuts or all of the electronics are bad. I bought a Clymer manual and I'm going by it and trying to test the power pack, stator, timer coil and the only things that test good is the 6 individual coils for the spark plugs. This thing went from hard to start to no spark at all. It's on a 393V Ranger and the boat is in fair shape for a 1988 model, but I would like to go catch a few old bucket mouths. I am about to the point of pulling my hair out, that is if I had any. Any suggestions?????? Thanks, I'm Bob.

I would check the stop circuit wiring first....its comes out of the key switch and runs to the motor.... if the shifter isnt in nuetral the motor wont start....I think the wire is black and yellow...( going from memory here)

id test the key switch first......then go from there...it is pretty well laid out in the factory manual... I dont have one for that model..

my motor had the electrical system dead when that black and yellow wire shorted in the harness half way from the motor to the controls...

what a bear to find....

also sometimes the plugs start arcing out....and you look continuity...so check the red plug on both ends
