This past weekend I took my 88 four winns 205 Sundowner out. Started a little rough but got going. We were riding a no wake zone for quite a bit, hit lake michigan and was tossed around so we headed back to another inland lake. No wake riding again at about 1 RPM. As soon as we passed the markers, I opened up at full throttle. We rode for about 2 minutes before the engine made an awful sound and shut down completely. I could not get another start and we had to be towed back to the marina. I have been reading other posts about manifold issues, possible hydrolock or maybe even a bad starter. My concern is if they do not get to looking at the issue soon, will it cause more damage? Especially after not checking for water in the plugs right away??? If it rusts in the cylinders is it over for good? It has only been 2 days since it happened and I think they are going to get to it tomorrow but has anyone else seen this issue? The 205 sundowner has a 5.0 OMC Mercruiser V8.
