I recently purchased a 1988 Bass Cat Pantera Ski and the dual rack and pinion steering is shot. Does anyone have any experience converting to hydraulic? I’m looking at the Uflex Hytech 1.0 but I wasn’t sure if it’s comparable with this engine and I can’t find anything after hours of searching.

The other option would be to go with the Seastar Dual Cable SS152.

For $100 more it seems like the uflex is the way to go and would be a much easier install than running cables.

Is there anything additional I need to be thinking about with this conversion?

I just did this with an older Merc 150, I used the Hyco 1, all good. Their fitment tables did not show my engine but the Hyco model I got was suitable for almost all other 150hp Mercurys, and you are right, hoses much easier to run than cables for only a little more dough.
Remember to tie the new hoses, or a pull line, to each cable you remove. Follow directions especially attaching cylinder to motor and use the correct tller bolt.
