There you go, an easy fix.

I have removed the insulation from all of my engines and replaced them with the foam mats that are made for standing at a work bench or working out. These have little diamond patterns and are better for noise reduction.

I buy the mats at Sam's club for $20 and use contact adhesive to put them in.

I will try that. You know any tricks for getting out the second stage pressed in check valve on a 88' force 50 fuel pump ? I got the other 2 out, but this one has to be pulled out from the front and i don't see how it's possible without drilling it out. Manual say's use a 16ga. piece of wire shaped like a hook, but there is no way that will be strong enough as the last one has to be punched out.

If you have a dremel tool, you are set. You take a dremel tool and use a carbide bit to cut from the inner valve to the pump body. Just watch as you get close to the pump body. I did this in two places 180* apart and did not actually cut thru to the pump body but the cuts were enough to relieve the tension on the valve so that you can get a L shaped piece of metal and pull it out. I used a old flat tip screw driver that I heated and bent.

When you put them back in, press them or drift them in using the appropriate size socket.
