1988 Crestliner Nordic FishHawk V16 Repair Help.

I am looking on here to see if anyone could possibly help me identify the alloy that was used to assemble these boats when they were new I'm assuming it's a 5XXX something alloy. But I am having trouble welding this boat the welds keep splitting up the middle as if it is something else. any help is appreciated thanks.

Dont know about what material boat is made from. But.... if you dont get an answer try looking for 3rd party ndt (non destructive testing) services. We use a company at my work that does everything from xray ut and concrete radar. They also have some kind of test equipment that will tell what a material is made of and all the minerals and alloys present and their quantities.
