1988 85hp Fuel Pump removal

I am going to remove and check my fuel pump tomorrow.. Is there anything I should know ahead of time before doing this?

Does the gasket have to be replaced before I put it back together if I am careful ggetting it off?

Nothing special and if you don't damage the gasket too badly, you can re-use it. Tiny nicks will not affect it and you can always seal it with silicone RTV.
