I have a 2.4 litre 200 HP merc and the trim unit is leaking around the ram on top. Is this a hard fix once i get the cylinder off? or is it relativly easy?
I assume you are talking about the tilt cylinder. On the tilt cylinder, sometimes you can lift the motor high enough after the cylinder is detached from the swivel bracket. This allows you to remove the end cap and piston from the cylinder without removing the cylinder. Make sure you use a good spanner wrench to avoid damaging the end cap.
