1987 Yamaha 70 hp tach

I think that my tach has gone bad. All of the lights work, but it is no longer reading rpm's. All wiring appears to be correct. What type of tachometer is available for replacement?

Before you buy a new tach check your charging circuit. A shorted diode in the rectifier can kill the input to the tach.

Thank you for the info. Im not sure how to do that, so it will probably mean a trip to the dealer, unless its fairly simple...

I have replaced the recifier and still no tach. Is there a way to test a tach? Is there a wiring diagram available to be sure that wire under the dash of my 1978 15' Boston Whaler is correct?
