1987 Wellcraft carb size?

I have a 1987 wellcraft and the carb was replaced with a 600 cfm edelbrock marine carb, the boat idles and acclerates fine until 2500 to 3000 rpm but wont plane out or accelarate beyond that. Is the carb big enough?

What motor did you mount the carb to? I have a 600cfm on my 5.0L Merc and its plenty.
