I had a thread started ("1987 Starcraft Islander 220V Rebuild") and have not updated in a while. I am completing the project now and would like to also complete the thread. Can this be reopened?

Thanks for reopening this. I have a bunch of pics to post and I’m going to try and keep updates coming until it’s done.

1. All the floor pieces are cut, coated and installed.
2. I have 3/4 in over 5/8 inch plywood.
3. Floor is installed with long (very long) reach blind rivets and stainless steel fender washers.
4. Middle portion of floor will be a separate panel from the rest of the floor to allow for access to the tank, if needed.
5. For the coating, I used some old timers formula and some US Composite epoxy. I don't really think it makes a difference. I'll be storing indoors.
6. I used the pink stuff for foam. I’m kind of regretting this. Lots of spots for water to dam and it’s not chemical resistant.
7. I filled some gaps in the bow with 2-part foam. (TotalBoat 6 Lb Density Expanding Foam Kit, 2 Part Closed Cell Polyurethane Liquid Foam for Boat Flotation)
8. Cut the bow out. I need ideas on how to finish this off.
9. Built and installed carpet on the sides (to cut down on noise).
10. Built counsels and dash.
11. Carpet installed on floor. Although I ran out and now I’m having a hard time finding the carpet to match. I got it from Wolfs Marine in Benton Harbor and he only stocks it once per year. Carpet is Syntec Aggressor and I’m not too sure what exact color it is.
12. Carpet is glued with ROBERTS 6700-1 1 Gallon Indoor/Outdoor Carpet/Artificial Turf Adhesive. Another regret (maybe). The glue seems to be very good. I just hope that I never have to rip the carpet out. This stuff is super sticky and will not come off easily.
13. I need to coat the remaining parts of the counsel today and test fit the windshield before final install.

Huge milestone today. Counsel's are finally properly fit and the windshield fits. I'll remove, coat and paint the plywood and then do final installation. Everything is being fastened with aluminum brackets repurposed from the Islander tear down.

I'm looking for ideas on how to finish the bow (where I cut).

Won't be long now, the tough part is behind you on this one.

On the foam, nothing dams and then soaks up water like expanding foam as it does conform as well as bond to the Al while the foam board just sits on it allowing water to pass underneath to the center low point.

Here's another picture dump and some more progress.

1. Counsel's are coated and painted and installed.
2. Windshield is fully painted and installed.
3. I'm starting the motor rigging and electrical now.
4. Ran out of carpet. I'm having difficulty getting additional carpet. It is Syntec Aggressor (either Shadow Grey or Midnight Star color). Total pain. QUESTION: Does anyone knows a source for this that will send me a color sample?
5. QUESTION: I would also be greatly appreciative of electrical plans. I think what I have is good as far as wire sizing, organization, etc. I am planning to just run to a small Blue Sea Systems blade fuse box but would be interested in knowing other options such as breakers.
6. QUESTION: Has anyone installed a bow mount trolling motor on a 22 Islander? Not sure if the 60 inch shaft will be long enough or if I should go with the 72.
7. QUESTION: I am interested in ideas on how to finish out the gunwale in the bow area. (where the cabin used to attach)
8. QUESTION: Need a source for the grommet that goes on windshield (covering installation screws)
