Happy fourth to all. I have an old Larson with the 120hp in it. 2.5 GM I believe. Previous owner ran it out of oil so it is seized up. In wanting to pull the motor it says to remove the out drive. Can I not pull the motor out with the out drive left in? Thanks, Don

Not really, can be done but much better to pull the drive first. Then you can service all the stuff that probably hasn't been..

You can leave it in, however it adds 4-5 hours of work during the process and you have to have the drive out to align the drive

Just pull the drive since you have to pull the drive every year for PMs. Motor should take less than 45 minutes to pull

Take it from a shade tree, just pull the drive and you will find many things that need care..

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... 8 nuts, 'n the drive is off,....
Seein's the motor is supposed to be lifted straight up, then out,....
You stand a serious chance of bending the drive's shaft, if you don't pull it 1st,....

How heavy is that drive?

Yep, about 75 lbs

Years ago I had a bravo mounted in a stand. Boss and foreman were chatting about 20 feet away. In moving the drive in the stand I dropped it on the floor, bang. They both looked at me for a few seconds and asked if I was okay before resuming their conversation. Not another thought given to it

No pull the outdrive first then motor. Pulling outdrive eill take you longer to read the manual of how to then to actually pull the drive
