Hello ill be updating soon as I have to put wheels on the trailer to get it up to the driveway today "the boat". So its gutted i purchased it from some family for 500. Full galvanized trailer and a 1987 glasstream 172 cutlass. The boat has been gutted to the floor. Has i believe the original aluminum floor tank and a mercruiser 3.0 alpha1. My uncle said it was built a while back with bigger heads. So once we finally get her cranked we will find out. She has sat for 2 years. Simi covered, uncle said she cranked right up last time I picked it up "2 yrs ago." So there's the just of it, hopefully you tag along for the ride. Should be many good times and hope I meet some friendly people along the way. Thanks for stopping by! Photos coming soon!

Well the usual on these forums is; without pictures it didn't happen. So post away the pictures of your project so we all can see what you are dealing with. Oh, and welcome to iboats. Glad to have you as a new member...

before you go any further with your demolition, you will need to pull the drive and motor out of the hull and stabilize the hull with a cradle of sorts.

you can build a cradle right on the trailer if you want.

Like a wood skeleton for the rigidity of the boat or moreso around the engine bay.

If it were me, I would see if the motor runs before you pull it out since its still in the "engine stand". Then, as mentioned by Scott, pull the motor and drive before continuing. The cradle is to keep the hull rigid as you redo the stringers and transom. Your are saving some work as the gut job is well on its way and you are way past the denial process. Seems Resurector started in a similar situation.
