1987 140 vro power pack, rectifier, stator issues

Can a bad stator cause power pack or rectifier to fail. Had a power pack fail 2 times in 2 years. Replaced power pack and went to lake. Now no charge and erratic tach.

I am replacing rectifier to fix charge and tach but now wondering what is causing all of these problems. Dont want to spend money on stator if not needed.

Did a bench test on stator. ohm test between yellow/grey and yellow. tested .80 oms. manual says should be .60 to .64. Is this something to be worried about?

Ohm tests will vary due to air temp. Sounds like a bad rectifier.

Thanks for your reply. One question, can a bad stator cause power pack to fail? Also, what are the symptoms of a bad stator?
