1986 OMC 3.0 Vs 1980 OMC 3.0 engine question

Guys my boat is 1986 & has OMC 3.0 with OMC Cobra stern drive.
Didn't winterized properly & it cracked internally.
I found another boat .It is 1980.It has same 3.0 OMC engine but sterndrive is older OMC.
Is that going to be issue .Is 1986&1980 engine mount same.I am swapping engine only .My cobra still good.
Pls let me know .

Nope. Totally different - as in couldn't be more opposite - drives. 1980 Stringer doesn't even mount to the transom, 1986 Cobra does.

If you re use the Cobra drive coupling and adapter housing, wiring harness and just for insurance a new exhaust manifold it should work. Just be sure to check the older engine that it is in good condition.
