1986 Mercury 115 tilt trim help needed

Hello fellow boaters I have a dilemna. I have a 1986 Mercury 115 HP 6 Cyl. without a S/N on the transom mount so I'm having an issue finding the correct parts. When I purchased the boat and motor both were titled so they are not stolen. I have the 3 Cyl. tilt trim system and have the main cylinder apart due to leakage. I have been searching for a diagram (and there are a ton) and can't find the correct one. My main piston has a smaller rod that goes up inside and I cannot find a diagram that shows that. The sticker from the SC registration shows the engine S/N as 0a974757 if that helps. Any help will be appreciated. Stay safe, be well and have a great day

An '86 115HP Merc looks to have a standard PTT unit, like the kind used for a long time afterward. Those have lower pins for the trim cylinder to swivel on. The pins have drilled passages for hydraulic fluid to go from outer trim cylinder to inner tilt cylinder. The casting can get worn and leak at that point.

You might look at the parts diagrams on the crowleymarine web site. Maybe your motor is a bit older than '86?

It may be older but without a good SN I may never know lol. I have searched for the SN on the tag with no results. Thanks for replying

Contact your local friendly Mercury shop.---They will help you.----So often folks can't fathom serial numbers and production years
