I recently bought an evinrude 60 outboard model # E60TLCDS,,serial #
G1104767 and can't find if the fuel for it needs to be a mix fluid or just regular gas,,I asked the previous owner this question and he responded with it has oil in the bottom of the motor so he only put regular gas,,I read somewhere that if it did have oil that it would have a dip stick and I see none,,can someone please help with this question,,I'm a first time boat owner and don't wanna burn up my outboard

Yikes....2 stroke, mixed gas or it's oil injected. Need pictures to verify oil injection.

parts list show VRO oil tank/VRO oiler to oil you engine... regular fuel is all it needs

if you did not get the VRO oil tank you will have to pre-mix the fuel !!!!

be sure to get a big syringe or turkey baster and test the bottom of tank for water intrusion, and soapy water after squeezing the bulb to make sure there are no air leaks.

thats a PREMIX only motor! thats TCW3 oil (synthetic recommended but any TCW3 will do) and NOT lawn and garden or jet ski/snowmobile oil. i sure hope the previous owner didnt run strait fuel through it!

It just has a regular fuel pump.-----So if the previous owner ran with straight gasoline , you need to do a compression test now !!

Yes, your motor didn't come with oil injection or it was converted. 50 to 1 and I'm not sure I'd use that yellow bottle stuff.

Brp, Merc, Yamaha....2 stroke oil. Sure to get a reaction here...oh well.

I would stop and do a compression test. Make sure your all good there and then move on to the next problem.....lots of help here and your bound to find some more things to fix!

It clearly shows the regular pump installed.----I can't believe that previous owner thought that oil in the lower end would lube the powerhead.----So 2 stroke engines and outboard lubrication can be a mystery to some owners.

if seller did think it was self oiling with no oil /dipstick/vro ???? that engine must be junk by now if he ran it straight fuel and he sold it for that reason... OMG !!!
or seller did run on a mix but sold it as 4 stroke due to the "appeal of 4 strokes" and just lied about it !

let's hope otherwise :-(

Agreed with the above.----The lack of technical / motor knowledge of many younger folks is amazing.----But they know all about their phones and remote controls for a smart TV !

I have 50 years of accumulated tools and a dozen refurbished OB most of which has sparked no real interest in my 2 grand kids . mecanical or electrical things are to complicated let alone getting all greased up.

when I kick the bucket they will be the new gardians of all this stuff and probably dump it for pennies.

old Lebanes saying... (Khalil Gibran)

It is well to give when sollicted but it is better to give by comprehension without being sollicted.

For the generous, searching for those who will receive is a joy greater than the gift itself !

"Everything you have will be given one day: May as well give now so the season for giving will be yours rather than your heirs" .

I hate to say it but TV's fall under 2 stroke motors....TV's are on the "outs"
