You see the edge where the sliding ramp reaches the top, this edge should be aligned forward (12 o'clock) when the LU is in neutral position, (prop spins freely in either direction). In this position, the middle of the very flat surface on top of the cam will be in about the 1 o'clock position.Because it is designed to lock in neutral and reverse, the actuating rod sits up on the flat surface when neutral or reverse is selected. When you select forward, the rod must unlock, so the rod slides down the ramp, unlocking the reverse lock hooks and goes into forward gear.
Once it is on, you can go ahead and install, making sure the boat and the LU are in the same gear.
Does this make sense to you, it almost confuses me.
