Ok
Finally back to the boat. I finished removing nearly everything from the boat, wet foam, decks, seats, moved the livewell. Now I need help with the transom if anyone could help me through this. Do I need to drill out all the old rivets from the back? The welds, do I need to break those or can I just remove the rivets and replace?

Did you ever get the transom done? Hoping I don't have to do mine.

Finally got the transom almost finished, just need to get the cap welded back on now.. Cutting the wood and tearing down was def the easy part. Trying to get everything lined back up and holes drilled has been a real PITA. HOPEFULLY NEVER HAVE TO DO THAT AGAIN. I will post some pics if anyone wants to see the progress I have made. Not much really, other than the transom. I am hoping it is all downhill from here.

I'd like to see all the pics you have of your transom installation and posting as many of you have of them could help someone in the future.

We love the boat porn, especially the pics of putting one back together!

Hi, I'm Jon and I'm new to this site. I recently bought an '89 TX17 that I'll be gutting this winter. It has rotting wood throughout and a pretty steady leak. I'll just continue to run the automatic bilge for now ;). But I'm afraid the transom will need replacing. Any insight and/or pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jon

In one of the last pics that Patsway posted you can see under the sheet of aluminum in the rear if the boat it looks like expanding foam in there. I'm sure that's also structural as much of anything else. What is recommended as a replacement for this? Could you possibly frame with aluminum or wood and just stack pieces of the sheet foam? Just trying to get mentally prepared for the upcoming events. Thanks guys.

It would be better if you start your own thread about your boat, that way when you start working on your boat all of the info given to you will be all in one place. Start your own thread and I'll be glad to help you if I can.
