I have a 1985 40HP ESK engine and have a bad Pulsar. I am confident that it is bad. I pulled the flywheel, and tested the 3 pulsars with an ohmmeter. 2 of then had about 350 ohms to ground, and one had like 50 MEGAohms.
An interesting thing is that if I hit it lightly with a blowtorch to heat it up, it starts working properly again.
I am wondering if it is possible to fix pulsars some how? Or if someone can refer me to purchase a new one.
I can not afford a new stator entirely (with charge coil, lighting coil, and 2 other pulsars mounted on the stator mount), but most likely could afford one of the pulsar units, and solder it myself.
Attached is a similar picture of what it looks like, but i cant find one for yamaha outboards.
