when I ripped my wellcraft apart it was about as bad as yours with the stringers not being covered glass had a lot of air pockets in the top half, part of the reason I tossed away the top and altered the boat, there just wasn't much worth trying to save due to all the bad fiberglass work. great project !

Hey second chance, just want to add my thanks and appreciation for all your work, both on the boat and the updates. I know what it's like trying to stretch time beyond its' finite limits. I have a recently acquired 1990 Wellcraft 250 Sportsman and I'm happy to say it's very sound structurally, so my work is mostly cosmetic, relining the cabin, sorting out some suspect electrics and replacing some bits and pieces. I did a bigger resto on an old 16' Microplus, cabin cruiser, which is now in use, in between work, sorting out the Sportsman, jobs around the house etc. etc. etc. Anyway, keep up the excellent work and greetings from Ireland.

Funny how life has a way of twisting desires and dreams.
It may be going on almost 10 years, but I haven’t quit!!
Just a few year pause.
I’ve come to far to throw in the towel!!!

Getting ready to hit this girl like a freight train and bloody that landing deck this summer!!!

I’m coming for that 2024 splash award!!!

In time I’ll reply to comments, but for now, this is just a post to my own diary of completing the project that I started…..
Stay tuned!!!!!

That's perseverance! Good to see you're on it, jealous of that work environment. Lake Erie is where our 1998 Wellcraft often ventures too

Well I did it!!
The longest 7 months of my life.
Working a full time job and on the boat until midnight damn near every night.
Sorry I didn’t post progress pics and updates but I’ve been laser focused on completing this before a 10 day trip to New York for a salmon trip in a week.
I’m actually thinking of taking this thread down and writing up an extensive detailed thread for any 248 sportsman owners.

The ---Wellcraft -----Brochures of those days said ---" World class boats"-------Know of one individual who had to redo transom / stringers on a 79 Scarab Sport.-----Meant to look good in the showroom.------Not really made with quality materials.

The old wellcraft plant is just down the road (our companies corporate offices for the marine segment are there now). our buyer here used to work at wellcraft. there is a rail spur that used to bring in plywood, resin and cloth by the boxcar in the 80's to wellcraft.
