I just bought a 1984 KingFisher 156 with original johnson 40. There were some soft spots so hey why not replace, its my first boat and it will only take a weekend, haha then I tore it apart and found this forum. For two weeks I feel it has come a long way.
Both front and rear deck were rotten as are the 1/4in boards around the foam blocks in the rear of the boat (see pic 46-49). Foam is bone dry surprisingly.
My questions are do I really need to put the rear deck back in the way it was - a few inches off of the fiberglass deck/hull (mock up in pictures 41-43). There are no stringers or foam under the decks. The front has the incline of the hull and needs the deck for looks but the rear I want to build a box to house the gas tank and battery away from sight, then put two folding seats on the top of the bench.
Once the carpet glue is off I am painting the deck with Interlux Interdeck on top of Interlux's no sand fiberglass primer. I tried acetone and a scraper to get off the glue but it's not working.
I have pictures on my photobucket account:

I have searched high and low and cannot find any pictures of my boat online from other members/owners. Anyone have any leads? It's a lonely world with a KingFisher so far!
