Hello i just recently bought this outboard and took it out for a test ride. The engine ran perfect but i broke a shear pin when i hit a log that was about a foot below the water. I took the prop off and rigged a new shear pin out of a welding rod i had in my tool box. On the way back to the dock the lower unit was making grinding sounds. Has anyone worked on these little things before? the previous owner said it broke shear pins a lot so im thinking its been trough some abuse. What would it take to rebuild the lower unit back to new? Any tips or advice would be extremely appreciated.
