My dad and I just bought a 83 islander project boat. This will be my first major redo boat. My dad has done several smaller boats over the years. He's retired so I'm sure he'll end up doing a lot more work than me. I'm making this thread to hopefully get some tips and information as we move along with the project. Wish us luck! Thanks! My dad is actually already a member. He has a 1968 StarCraft 16' that he fixed up a few years ago. I can't recall the model.
Its going to be a lot of hard work but in the end I'm sure it will be worth it.

Welcome aboard,

I love the old style gangster look of that era Islander. Have fun with the boat work ahead and try not to make it a chore. :)

Well progress is being made. I'm working midnights right now so I'm about as useful as a one legged man in a butt kicking contest. My dad is an animal though. Old floor is out along with all the old foam. He also was able to get the motor freed up and crank with the starter.

Looks like whoever pop riveted before didn't bother cleaning up the old stems. Seems like a bunch sitting up forward.

Good to see it has the additional bracing along the chines.
