Hello all,
Ive recently inherited a 1983 glastron sx-190. Im looking to restore it as it has sentimental value. However, this is also the first boat ive ever owned. Im looking for any information pertaining to restoring it. This is a breakdown of the boat as of now. The boat has been gutted all the seats have had the materials removed. The padding and frames for the seats are here and im confident all the pieces are present. Some of the wood frames need to be remade because of weather etc. The wiring I cant be sure about. The panel with all the controls are still connected but there are some wires not connected to anything. The fiberglass hull seems to be in good shape, there are some hairline cracks in the gel coat but im told that this is common and doesnt need fixing. Concure? I was also told the engine was good but havent witnessed it running myself. Where should I start? Does anyone have any info (owners manuals etc)? Any good places to get parts, havent found much searching this stuff on the internet? Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi welcome to iboats.

one of the first things to do is get the motor running......that is the heart of the boat.
it is also one of the most expensive parts of a re build.

if you post pics in the forum...we can guide you all the way thru this....its not hard....just a lot of time and elbow grease !

cheers

Unless they are an unusual configuration, it is often more cost effect to completely replace the seats than to have them reupholstered.

I miss that boat! The Glastron SX-190 is an awesome boat, and mine had alot of sentimental value also. Please post some pictures.

Also check out classicglastron.com, as those guys sometimes have parts. I have the two handles that you use to get in off the swim ladder if you want them.

PM me if you do.
