Is it a seal or an o-ring? If it is an o-ring take the old one to a local autoparts store, Napa is a good one, and they can match one up. If it is a seal I would try a bearing house such as Kaman Bearing they should be able to find one.

Re: 1983 Chrsler tilt and trim problem

I am having a similar problem with a '73 Chrysler 70hp. I am leaking hydraulic fluid out the trim shaft. I have replaced all o-rings and still leaks. The shaft appears to be in good shape/no knicks. The outside seal that prevents water from entering is missing. Could this contribute to the leak? I'm thinking about replacing the housing and shaft if I find out the seal doesn't stop leakage. Any help is appreciated.
