I want to put some nonskid type coating on the bow around the hatch. It has 2 spots of textured fiberglass fore and aft of the hatch that I want to add additional material too. any suggestions that will last? I had to scrape some crappy Bayliner stickers off of the top of the cuddy that were cracked and baked on so I don't want any stick on stuff on the bow again. I think Im going to repaint above the rub rail, so if there is a paint treatment that will work into the respray that would be good.

Glad to see someone else is tearing into a Bayliner Cuddy. I have just about the same boat. Mine is an 85 21' cuddy. I started about a week or so ago. I guess we will be learning the same things a the same time! haha! Good luck to you!

You might consider just using Rustoleum paint with Playground sand mixed in. You'll be surprised at how well it actually works. Tape off the area and roll it on. You can roll more paint over the surface if you think its to "Rough" and it'll smooth it out a bit.If you add the acrylic enamel hardener to the paint it'll make it very durable as well.;)

Welcome UncleJay! Thanks for stopping by. have you started a resto thread? Those pics look all too familiar. I'm plugging along working inside and outside waiting to pull the motor and get her off the trailer for yet another part of the project.

The big day has happened, On Father's day! Might has well have been my birthday I'm so thankful for the help of Watermann in getting the old VP out of the boat, so I can finish demo of the decks and inspect the transom.

it took a while longer than I thought because things were rusty and frozen tight, but it came out.

It was a nice feeling when the engine was finally out of the boat and I removed all that stuff on the transom. It felt like I was getting it done. Good job guys.

Best of all... once the motor was on the engine stand a wrench was put in the crank and she turned over nice and smooth! Hey I left my fogging oil and PB at your place.

Finally a cool day with no "chores" to do. Got the transom housing and bell housing out with some buddy help and FIRE, to loosen things up. Then we were able to pull the boat off the trailer and really Dry Dock it in the driveway, so now I have choices. Work on the boat, work on the trailer, work on the boat...........progress, slowly but surely. Thanks Watermann!

Well that was a first for me using a weed burner to heat up stuck bolts

Surprisingly smooth transition from the chariot to the ground with no awe mans, opps or we should've, would've, could've. That cradle you made worked out pretty slick! :thumb:

No, I won't be over for the itchy part either. :D

For anyone wondering, the project has not been abandoned and the boat has not been sold. I'm just :upset: about "blogging" it. Im sorry. The Shoreland'r trailer was garbage, rusted from the inside out so I had to find another trailer. This turned out to be another boat, with a Black Max Merc outboard on an EZ Loader trailer. The old Reinell is long gone at the dump, the EZ Loader is almost refurbished and the Black Max is on an engine stand. The original Volvo Penta motor is garbage as is the outdrive, so I'll be converting to outboard power using the Merc. All stringer replacement was halted after the boat rolled off the cradle twice into the grass with me inside. Once I get it onto the EZ, I'll start work again. If I can remember how to post photos I'll put a few up. Thanks to the Bayliner bro who inquired via message.
