I just picked up a 1983 Baja 20 with an Evinrude 175 V6. I got the boat fairly cheap ($900) The good is the hull and paint are in great shape. The bad needs carpet, seats recovered and the wiring cleaned up. Now onto the motor, it hasn't ran in 2 years. The last time they took the boat out it died on them, their temp fix to get it back to the dock was taking the filter off and cleaning it and she would start right up. So I ordered new filters and fuel pumps. After getting the boat home I primed the primer ball and noticed fuel leaking from the carbs so I ordered the carb rebuild kits for it. Hopefully I can get the boat running sometime this week so I can take it to get reupholstered soon. is there anything else I should look for or at in this motor?

You're on the right track, and sounds like it could be a fun project. Have you check compression on that motor yet?

Well I got home from work and rebuilt the fuel pumps and with out hesitation she fired right up. I am still gonna rebuild the carbs because I know it sat for a couple years. I ordered 30 yards of marine vinyl last night as well. I just have to find the carpet I want. She should be water ready in 2 weeks at least I hope. I havnt figured out how to upload pictures in here yet but I will eventually
