Re: 1983 9' Sportcraft (Li'l Sport??)

I have one here in NJ I am refurbishing it as I write. It's a sportcraft with 8'8 inches it has a 17 inch transom. It had pullies for steering. I changed it to regular teleflex. I purchased a 15 hp honda short shaft remote engine for it today. Should fly. The boat is very heavy indeed. I think so many were made for tradeshows they would fit perfectly in the booth space which is a standard 10 feet. My guess is that it was a promotional boat to display their boats. I don't think to many were made. I am a happy camper to have found this little GEM. I purchased all new cleats, lights, seats, windshield was cracked so I am sending out to be replaced. I ripped out the old moldy carpet. I am going to epoxy paint the floor and side walls easier to just hose it down. I love the green one with the green trailer. I am keeping mine the original tan color that older sportcrafts had. :) I'll send a pic when finished oh also having silver white and yellow pin stripes, mini yellow Bimini top custom and a four speaker marine radio installed. Not much room but I'll find a way.

I recently picked up what I believe to be the same boat. Maybe someone on here can confirm. I put a 9.9 Yamaha long shaft on it as that was the lowest HP I could find with controls. I added a jack plate because the motor was too long, and now the transom sits so close to the water line I feel like its gonna take on water and sink. What are you guys running on yours? Has anyone moved the fuel tank to the front or added any weight to the bow? I'd like to get it sorted out as it would be a perfect canal cruiser for my kids. Looking for some advice from those of you that know more about these little boats.
