I'm working on a 1981 stringer replacing the transom seal.. I noticed that when I loved the drive oil cam from the water intakes. Ive never worked on one of these drives but I'm assuming this is a seal in the water pump?20230402_154757.jpg

Videos at sterndrive info. There are potentially a dozen places that can cause a leak

Based on color, it's a hydro/mechanical lower vs the mechanical only (silver)

Maybe @kenny nunez

I'm more inclined to think your lower unit needs resealed or has a crack. I'd pull the drive and separate the upper and lower. See where the leak starts.

As suggested the drive has to come apart. Most likely the seals above the water pump is the source of the leak. You need to get a Genuine OMC service manual for this model.
This thing can be a real can of worms.

That's probably the housing part number, model number is going to be something like 200FTHRCIS. You need to find the tag on your engine. It should have a model number on it.
