here it is, my 1981 Silverline. This boat has been in my wife's family for years and was recently put in our posetion. it was left in the NW weather for the last two years and as a result the floor is completely rotted out. my hopes are for next summer (2013) to have it in the water. I dont have much experience with boats other then riding/driving them. i have been in residential remolding for ten years so i have some knowledge of dealing with rot. as of now i am almost done with the demolition phase of the project and getting ready to purchase materials and read up on fiber glass techniques. please give me questions and comments i will be following this. here are some pics of the work process so far.

Nice looking boat, Silverlines were very well built. You have come to the right place as there are many experts here to lend a helping hand. I would check out the motor to make sure it runs before putting to much money into the boat. Repowering can be expensive.

By the way, welcome to iboats :)

Thank you, apparently the only thing they had trouble with (2 years ago) was the starter.

Hi "waterrat82",

Welcome to the Iboats drydock...

You are on the best place for any and all information you will need to get this beauty all "ship shape"...

One of the best ways to post pictures is to open a free photobucket account, load your pics there, then click on the IMG tag of the pic you want to post, it'll say "copied", then post it in your reply here...

Have fun and best of luck,
GT1M

This is the inside of the transom. The wood was falling off with no effort once so ever.

All of the stringers are the same way the transom is....

All that rot is very typical of a boat that wasnt properly stored. You are flying through the demo! I'm at the same phase to start grinding on my Silverline

Questions....

Questions....

So I met a guy today who does glass in town and was talking about materials to use. he had mention a composite material for the stringers. Also not sealing the underneath of the plywood for the deck, due to his thoughts of why it was so rotten in the first place. I've been looking into different materials and methods ( and i know everyone has a different way of doing things) and am curios if there are some recommendations on material for the stringers, how important are the stringers to the way the boat rides/drives. I've seen 3/4 ply (for stringers) or used or 1x6. the original looks like 3/4" with 1x1's fasten to each side. thanks again

The first couple weeks are when we work on new projects the most. Then it turns into 20 minutes here and 20 minutes there....
