1980 Evinrude 35hp water pump replacement help

I'm about to replace the impeller and housing in my old 35. The last time I did it was 1999 and I'm having trouble remembering how the shift linkage comes loose to remove the lower unit. I can't see anything near the power head.

A vague memory may be telling me that's where the shift linkage connects. Is that right?

1980 was the 1st Year it was located there.

A couple of opened end wrenches....brass piece, nut and small plastic keeper. Don't loose the last thing.
