I would strongly suggest you keep a bilge pump installed. Certainly beats bailing a boat with a bucket/sponge that's taking on water. But your boat, your choice.

IF you are sure of the condition of the pump, then by all means reuse it. But a 500GPH pump is relatively cheap. If buying new, I'd suggest one with an automatic float switch so it turns on when water is detected.

Have you finalized the layout on the boat? If so, can you share? We like pics you know!

I'm wondering if anyone knows what this hole is for. The same hole is on the other side of the boat in the same spot.

Bilge pump? Bait box/Livewell drain? What was hooked up to it previously? **Definitely appears to be an owner add-on at any rate.

Whatever it is, it's a little low for my liking based on the waterline.

Nothing wad hooked up to it and it doesn't have any plugs or it's not connected to anything. The hole has a plastic rubber coating around it.

Here is what I have gotten done so far. I have painted about almost 1/2 of the inside of the boat and plan on finishing the rest of painting by next week. I have also cut wood to the size of all the storage and painted those. One of the two compartments I cleaned up and fiber glassed and it will be sanded and painted soon. The second compartment will be fiber glassed by the end of the week. I have also fiber glassed any holes is the back and around the boat. By the middle of next week the boat should be flipped over to repair any gouges or small holes. It will then be sanded and painted.

Does anyone know what this is for? It is in the back of the boat.

Uh huh. Bilge pump bracket. If it's in good shape AND you can find a pump to fit it, I'd leave it. Otherwise, remove and replace with new pump/bracket/base.

Did you ever figure out what those holes in the side of your hull were for? If not, I'd remove the thru hull fittings, clean any goop out of the area, and then fill with fiberglass to seal.

Check with WoodOnGlass on how to properly close those unused holes up. I hear he also has a good fairing compound mixture if you need to fill any small imperfections.

You stated the transom and structure were good. How do you know? What did you do to ensure they are? Did you core sample the transom? Have you mounted a motor on it and bounced on it to ensure it doesn't flex. Boats of this vintage rarely have "Good to Go" stringers and transoms. With all the work you're doing it would be a shame to have to rip it all out later if/when you find problems. I'd HIGHLY recommend you do a thorough exam of these components before moving forward with the painting etc..

I core sampled the transom and the floor is solid.
