1980 35 hp johnson exhaust question

This maybe a dumb question but it's better to be safe than sorry...I just replaced the water pump impeller on my 1980 35 hp johnson....I have a good stream coming from the pee hole but I also have water sporatically spraying from the two exhaust ports located below the power head on the prop/rear side of the mid-section and water bubbling out the two holes located on the upper front side of the mid-section...is this normal

pretty much, there is a sealant put in the joint at the factory, we just do not do it when we do the impeller.

ok...thanks....what are the two vertical holes located on the front side of the mid-section and what is there purpose
