so i just picked this boat up and it started just fine for the old owner, 2 days after getting it home it will not start.
i have the commander throttle control.. the motor cranks and is getting fuel but no dice.... sometimes it gets real close to turning over and the just stops abruptly (almost like it locks up) anyone know where to start. im all about fixing things myself but im about to take it to a mechanic!

If it cranked when you bought it seems you jus might be doing something wrong. first off how about a serial number. the ol merc's need a high throttle to crank. make sure you depress button on side and move lever about 3/4 forward, listen to motor and adjust. hope this helps, just a note have you called previous owner for help? you should prolly look into the fuel pump and also clean the carbs if you needed starter fluid

Never use starting fluid..good way to blow a hole through the piston...no lube.....next time put gas/oil mix in spray bottle or use WD40
