Says 32 gallons on the trapezoidal one I have. Interesting. The hulls look otherwise the same so far.

Yours is a 78 mine is a 79 guess they made a few minor changes, the insides of my gunnels have an aluminum trim yours are rounded, But I'm pretty sure my other v5 has a 32 gallon tank have to look when I get a chance.

Hey Glen did you catch any fish, not really close to being half done, the easy part's done my son is away for about a week, when he comes back we want to flip it over sand it down and paint it, going to be a little harder than the sylvan. how's the mercruiser running. Duncan you just have to use brute force to get the carpet out, this one was a little harder than the others I've done they used a lot of glue, but that parts done.

Hey John, fishing was great, the four of us fishing four times we caught 110 Walleye in the 2 -2.5lb. range.
The tank in your V5 is the same as mine. Where did you pick up this boat?

Great fishing, good eating size, walleye is the only fish as far as I'm concerned, but that's just my opinion, I bought the boat just this side of minneapolis mn, Mound Mn.

Pulled that 2x4 out came out easily sopping wet, weighted a ton, dropped it on the floor and shattered in 3-4 pieces, also a bit of styrofoam, lots of mouse shredded stro still underneath will blow it out with my compressor and replace the 2x4. IMG_6004.jpgIMG_6005.jpg

Don't want to put another 2x4 down the center below the tank had some scrap heavy duty aluminum bracing installed 3 pieces below where the tank is going to be, better drainage and no rut. IMG_6007.jpgIMG_6008.jpgIMG_6009.jpgIMG_6010.jpg

Wow she is looking good. You sure got lucky not having the pour in foam, if I had it to do over again I would try to buy one just a little older than mine so I didn't have to mess with the pour in foam not to mention the V5 is just slightly cooler than the standard super sport.

Re: 1979 Supersport 18 V5 Rebuild

Thanks guys, good one JB, actually Sig I prefer the older boats, most of the ones I've restored didn't have the pour in foam, I've found that the pour in foam tends to get water logged more than the other, the last sylvan I restored must have been carrying at least a 100 pounds of extra weight with all the water logged foam, replaced it with regular styrofoam and will do the same with this one, Blue I wrote off my first v5 thanks to a partially submerged log, I did see it again about 15 years ago in a small town north east of Winnipeg it still had that star on the front of it that I put on thats how I recognized it

Got the floor cut out and first coat of spar varnish, going to add an access door for the gas tank, and think I'll cover all the sections with vinyl and screw them down with stainless screws this time. Just going to dry fit everything for now, my son gets back on Sunday then we'll flip the hull over sand it and paint it. Hey Glen I'm having a PC .05 good.... Looking good John, I would not even attempt to paint outside here yet, the weather is so unpredictable lately. Was going to take the 201 out for a test spin but the clouds are rolling in and the wind is picking up pretty good.
