The mystery machine V5 
I have to go with a conversion after seeing that cap plate and there were no livewells in SC boats of the 70's until the Super Fisherman. It would be the first 70's V5 Mariner I've ever seen.
The SS was rated at 240 before having it's guts torn out, consoles and side panels add substantial hull strength, not sure about safe max hp now? My 78 V5 22' Islander is also rated at 240 with a 25" transom and they're strongly built boats.
Great project, she'll make an awesome big water craft.
