1979 Johnson 85HP no spark on 1 cylinder

Good news guys. Stator didn't make sense to me so I double, triple check with the manual word for word. With all the probing and moving the probe here and there got me a little confused but I did figure it out. Testing the timer 4 wires plug on the no spark side A and C give me no reading. I contacted a guy on local craigslist who have pretty much a salvage yard and went pick up a timer base. Wired it all up and all cylinder is firing again. Setting the boat in the water tomorrow for idle adjustment and test. Thanks for all the help guys

Told ya it was the timer base ...

Glad to hear ya got it fixed.

Fwiw even if'n yer following the factory recommended troubleshooting procedure these effers'll fool ya sometimes.

I got one more question for you guys. I have tach I want to wire up. I have the rubber adapter but I can't figure out the wiring diagram on the control. I was told the open plug on the control is for the tach. So far I know the purple on the right pin is power I just don't know the upper center and left which one is ground and pluse.
