1979 Johnson 6hp Prop slip

Tested the 1979 today and just like the 1968 drop the trim out one notch solved it....Geeesh I feel so dumb for not trying this before. I was pretty sure the engine was leveled properly. This one even trimmed out, a lot faster than the 1968. Thanks for the input, I learned a lot.

That is wrong. Both those props have a rubber hub.
Yes, they have Rubber Hubs, but they are Pin Drive. I have never seen a Pin Drive's hub slip. That even goes for 90hp older motors (non thru hub exhaust), let alone a 6hp having enough hp to spin the hub.

Glad you got it figured and are back on the water. When I was a kid I had 72’ I believe 6 hp.
I always fished the flats in Fl and would often get caught from a fast outgoing tide. After tearing up a couple props I started making my own drive pins from brass rod and would saw a 1/8th of the way through on either side so they would shear easily. I just kept a bunch in my tackle box and was always ready to swap one out.

We always had 2 Taped to the Tiller Arm, and 1 Cotter Pin

You need to get out more. It's pretty common.
