Hey! Don't mess up that new sweet paint job! That cost real money donchaknow!

(sorry, I was just getting a little nervous here buddy)

I checked and made dang sure I wasn't putting any heat into the aluminum. It didn't even get warm so were good.

Staying up late tonight are we?

Oh hey, on your questions...

Acetone is fine. I kinda like mineral spirits little better though either will work.

I'm thinking wire wheel to remove the glue (that stuff is a bear). But, just beware of little pieces of flying wire that could nick your paint work.

Or get stuck somewhere next to the aluminum hull and help cause corrosion,...

Thanks, I'll stick to sanding. I scraped most of it off years ago so all that's left is a thin residu.

Hey DJ, I use Goof-Off in the spray can it worked real good, then just wiped everything done with acetone when I'm done.

Vinyl is showing up tomorrow, and the carpet is showing up Friday or Monday.

I went with the wider vinyl to avoid seams and went with the 8.5ft wide carpet because the hull sides are over 36" tall, so 6' wide carpet cut in half wouldn't do it. This way I can slit the 8.5ft. roll down the middle to do each side.

Great news!

Got a profile or pix of the aluminum you referenced earlier for the gunnel side trim or what-not? I can't seem to pull that profile up in my head, although I've seen it hundreds of thousands of times......

Guess I had something else on my 'mind' anytime I might of had opportunity to examine the stall divider trim moldings

Came home from work to a big roll of vinyl laying in my living room! Pretty quick, ordered it Sunday night.

Confirming test over epoxy. This time with the correct amount of adhesive under it and cured for 24 hours at 60 degrees. It's never coming up! Bent my fingernail over backward trying to lift an edge.

I'm trying hard to get this stuff local. If I order off Amazon who knows how old it may be. I have a Henry regional rep checking into where I can get some. Basically many different companies make it as "All Weather Outdoor Carpet Adhesive". If it says indoor/outdoor its more than likely latex based. Some of the equivalent solvent based ones are: DAP All Weather Outdoor Carpet Adhesive, Henry 263, Roberts 6040, Anchor 986, and there is a couple more (cant remember at the moment).

Well, the Henry Adhesive Rep is MIA, never heard back, so I placed an order on Amazon for 4 gallons of DAP All Weather Outdoor Carpet Adhesive (solvent based). Hopefully see it next week.

I left for work this morning and went to leave through the garage and there layed a roll of carpet. This weekend I'll try to get the deck and hull sides prepped so when the adhesive comes in I can get to work!

Well, I have all my materials for doing the floor and hull sides. I haven't done a whole lot in the past few weeks, still touching up some of the deck holes that i poured the foam through. I also picked up 5 grey 8" deck plates off ebay for $9/piece. One is for my fuel sender and the other 4 are going back under the splashwell so I can seee down in between the stringers at the back. I'm hoping for a 50 degree day sometime soon to do the flooring install as I don't want to affixiate myself or blow my house/garage up......

Did about an hours worth of inner hull prep tonight. Tried Goof Off, a paint/rust removing pad, scotchbrite....seems the best method is a razor blade and a 40 grit disc on a DA sander. Hope to get it all cleaned up this weekend so I can move on to more exciting things...

I could use a nice warm day soon to get my flooring in...

Not hiding, just waiting for warmer weather. Can't do my flooring in an enclosed garage with open flame heater. I did do a serious renovation/organization number on my work area though.

Great thread enjoy following this one. I have the same boat and am looking for a way to make the side panels for mine. Anyway to get the measurements or templates on paper from yours?
