1978 vip gas tank change

I just recently took out the old 6 gallon square aluminum gas tank out of my 1978 vip boat. I am trying to replace it with a plastic 6 gallon tank from academy. I am wondering how to get a filler hose from the new tank to the metal filler top. Other than going down to the hardware store and piecing together some parts do they make anything that makes my goal easier? Like a 2" female end going into a 1.5" hose?

Ayuh,... If you're doing that, you need the Right tank,... That 1 Ain't it....

The gas tank was only $20 and for the time being I can just pull it out a bit from the back and fuel it up when needed (it's easily accessible). I gotta think there is a way to do that though. I mean all it's used for is simply pouring gas through a 1.5" tube into the tank.. Am I missing something?

YES, you're missing the fact that gas on a boat is dangerous enough without trying to jerry rig a portable tank from Academy. Using that tank is fine, trying to make it something it is not (fixed gas tank) is not safe.

Yea you're both right. Just trying to do a budget repair to get out on the lake.. I will stick with filling it the normal way.. I appreciate you two knocking some sense into me..
